Larry was a hardworking and talented man who dedicated much of his life to building things for others. He began his career as a cabinetmaker and later worked as a superintendent overseeing commercial and residential construction projects. After retiring in 2011, Larry continued to stay busy with woodworking and plenty of "honey-do" projects.
Larry had a love for flying and enjoyed his time as a pilot. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and a gifted woodworker. Larry never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether someone needed his skills, his time, or simply a friendly conversation, Larry was there. His generous heart, strong work ethic, sense of adventure, and love for others made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Larry was a Christian whose faith was an important part of his life. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Andee Dowd; his children, Jennifer Patterson, Shawn (Nicole) Dowd, Jody (Michael) Day, Poncho (Tami) Reno, and Robert (Emily) Kemper; and his grandchildren, Brittanie Dowd (Corbin Fitzgerald), Carlee Dowd, Kent Flower, Garret (Megan) Day, Dalton (Caroline) Day, Jessie (Brandon) Morgan, Gaige Tefertiller, Dalys Tefertiller, Abigail McKlem, Hunter McKlem, Breanna (Keith) McKay, Dakota Reno, Tristan Kemper, and Cauy Kemper. He is also survived by numerous beloved great-grandchildren.
Larry is further survived by his siblings, Donnie (Judy) Dowd, Jerry (Bobbie) Dowd, Stanley (Juree) Dowd, Carol (Lynn) Rider, and Bobbie Jean Hunyadi; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Elsie Dowd; his daughter, Julie McKlem; his granddaughter, Ashley Patterson; and his brother, Ronnie Dowd.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, skilled craftsman, adventurer, and loyal friend. His willingness to help others, the beautiful things he built, and the love he gave so freely will remain part of his lasting legacy.
