Leona Montgomery Ross returned home on July 4, 2024, after celebrating her 90th birthday and living a full life, to what was a joyful reunion with her parents and husband. She was born June 19th 1934, in Indio, California, to Louie (Hunt) and Roland Jack Montgomery. She married Cecil Ross, on June 18, 1950, the day before her 16th birthday. She was so in love with him, and appreciated that he was a successful truck driver. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Leona loved her family and that was her main goal in life to raise her three daughters. She is survived by them: Susan (Mark) Steves, Robin (Troy) Thielemier, and Carolyn (Craig) Pann. She is the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: Travis Steves, Justin Steves, Melanie Steves, Marshal Steves, Clint Thielemier; Cindy Garcia, Jay Thielemier, Joshua Pann, Erin Pann, Summer Theis, Landon Pann, Hattie Zuniga & Ashlee Magoffin. She has 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Leona is talented, she was an excellent painter and she enjoyed sewing. She made most of our clothes when we were younger. She was thrifty and created abundance out of little and always kept the home in perfect condition.
Leona Ross is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she enjoyed serving in the church and had a strong testimony and knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures. And was always willing to share her knowledge. Leona and Cecil served a mission for the church in 1988-1989 in San Bernardino California, where they shared the gospel.
