LeRoy Lopez, age 63 passed away on April 25th, 2020. Preceded in death by his father Joe Lopez, his stepfather Bert Cordova, sister Cindy Lopez and brother Bill Lopez. Survived by his mother Gloria Cordova, his children LeRoy Lopez (Lori) and Laralee Lopez-Perez (Robbie), grandchildren Courtney, D.J., Lucas & Robby, 4 great-grandchildren and his siblings Margaret (Tom) Vargas, Loretta (Evan) Bunyard, Rick (Marybeth) Lopez, Tony (Johnna) Lopez, Janice Ortega, Karen (Chris) Bonnet, James (Donna) Lopez, several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. LeRoy was born in Pueblo, CO on September 10, 1956 and grew up between Pueblo and Denver until he married and entered the Army in 1974 where he was a helicopter mechanic and an expert rifle marksman. He was honorably discharged in 1977 at which time he moved his family to Buena Vista and worked at Climax until 1983. At that point he went back to school and received his certificate in welding and started his journey into construction/contractor work in Colorado Springs and later in Denver. After his children were grown, he moved out to the West Coast alone for work and spent 12 years on different projects through CH2MHill/Jacobs where he retired from in 2018 when he moved back to Pueblo to be with his family. He was very helpful, friendly, and a hardworking man who loved to teach his coworkers and share his wealth of knowledge, who enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, astronomy (he was on youtube all day researching earthquakes, weather, the galaxy and whatever else caught his interest at the moment) and was big on politics and was an avid Denver Broncos Fan. He was proud of and adored his children and grandchildren very much and there was nothing he would not do for them. He raised his children to be hardworking, giving, honest adults. Special thanks to his adopted children Alex & Jessica Mondragon who helped him in his time of need 2 years ago in CA and also to his special friend Kelly Muehlbauer who helped him with anything to do with work and Jason Goss for setting up the memorial Messenger page for all of your co-workers. Sorry if anyone was missed. Memorial services to be held later due to the global pandemic.
