He was born in Sterling, CO on September 22, 1931 and moved to Pueblo at the age of 7. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Edith Hunker, his sister Doris Pile, brother Wilbur Hunker and son Ted Hunker. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Hunker, daughter Wendy Hunker, son Tim Hunker (Emilee); daughter-in-law Ann Marie Hunker; grandchildren Erin Bogard, Samantha Cozzolino-Hunker, Micaela Hunker, Morgan Hunker, Kendall Hunker, Eric Osswald (Magalie), Amanda Mielke (Conner), and great grandchildren Sienna and Addison as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Lew worked for School District 60 for 30 years as well as doing a little side business of landscaping work and sprinkler repair.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a great friend to everyone. He was a wonderful listener, a strong supporter of his family, was patient and kind to everyone. In his free time he loved to fish, take trips to Cripple Creek with his wife, root for the Broncos and eat ice cream. He had a clever wit that made everyone smile.
His family sincerely thanks the staff at University Park Care Center for their tender care and making him comfortable during his last days on earth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church, 310 W 11th St, Pueblo, CO 81003 followed by an entombment blessing at Imperial Gardens, 5450 W State Highway 78, Pueblo, CO 81005. Masks will be required. Due to Covid restrictions a reception following services will not be held.
The family requests no food or flowers, donations be made in his memory to the charity of their choice.
