Rather than mourn his passing, Lewis’s family chooses to celebrate the remarkable life he lived, the countless lives he touched, and the enduring legacy he leaves behind. Beloved family and friends remember him not with sorrow alone, but with gratitude, pride, laughter, and love. Honoring Lewis’ strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
After earning his Bachelor’s Degree, Lewis dedicated his life to serving the country he loved. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a helicopter medevac pilot, earning numerous honors, awards and decorations throughout his long and distinguished military career. Following his retirement from active duty, he continued his commitment to military service in the Army Reserves, ultimately achieving the rank of Colonel. Upon retirement from the military, Lewis pursued a career as a commercial airline pilot. His love of flying, steady presence, and professionalism earned him the respect and friendship of many colleagues throughout the years. During this time, he was recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for his completion and tenure as a Federal Officer in the Federal Flight Deck Officer Program. Whether in the armed forces or in the private sector, He consistently demonstrated the highest level of dedication, selflessness, and integrity while serving his country.
Known for his kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need, Lewis never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Countless family, friends, neighbors, and strangers were blessed by his generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength. His friendship meant a great deal to many in the community.
Later in life, he returned to his agricultural roots, spending more than a decade doing what he loved and enjoyed living a life that reflected his deep appreciation for family, the land, and honest work.
Lewis also had a lifelong passion for muscle cars and was an enthusiastic supporter of classic car shows and classic cars.
