Lois F. "Mimi" Schepis, 93, of Pueblo West, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Lois was born September 28, 1926. Mimi will always be remembered for her never ending love for everyone and her constant compassion in any situation. She was born in Oklahoma, and was one of 7 children. Raised on a farm, during hard times, she was always saving everything and as conservative as she could be. She would even save used pieces of aluminum foil, fold them up and stash them in the drawer in case her family ever ran out. She married John Thomas Schepis after being introduced by his brother, Michael. They had two girls, Susan (Rick) Barnett and Linda (Kevin) Billings, who still survive her. She also has 4 grandchildren, Garrick, Jamie, Ryan, and Krystle; great-grandchildren, Emerald, Dante, Annalise, Allyne, Henry, Adeline, Olivia; and one great-great grandchild, Salem.
She worked most of her life for Automatic Switch Company in Houston, TX as an inside sales engineer. After working for many years, her boss told her he couldn't give her any more raises because she had reached the highest level for her job title. So, Mimi took on a challenge of getting an engineering degree in her 50's, passed the qualifying test, and reached a new level of expertise in her job. She retired from Automatic Switch and began the full time job of taking care of her husband, who had dealt with several heart issues. He passed in July of 1995, and Lois lived by herself for several years. In 2000 her family moved her to Pueblo West, where she lived with Rick and Susie for the rest of her life. For most of that time her son-in-law would say that "he" lived in assisted living because Mimi would wash, clean, iron, and fix dinners every night since Susie was also working full time. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that she had to slow down. Her mind was not processing like it had and her mobility was becoming questionable. She had fallen several times and broken different bones. In her last few days she started saying that her mind didn't feel right. She didn't have much energy which bothered her a lot. On Thursday, May 21, she sat in her recliner as she did every afternoon for a time of rest. This time she never woke up. She had a stroke the doctor said was so severe she would never recover. The following Tuesday she went to be with her husband and her Lord. Mimi was always talking about wondering why the Lord had left her here so long. We just kept telling her the mansion wasn't finished yet so she had to wait. Her love for Jesus was expressed every day in some way. She never missed reading her Bible. No matter what the circumstance, there was endless praise on her lips.
