Margaret arrived on June 17, 1930, to the delight of her parents and 6 brothers! They were so proud and happy that they finally had a baby girl in the family! The family had a farm in Del Norte until Margaret was in grade school, and then the family moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she graduated from Centennial High School in 1948. She had her first job at age 12, when she cleaned a 3 story house every Saturday for a whole 25 cents. Soon, she started working at Frances Ice Cream, Bowman Biscuit and then, Colorado Laundry. Margaret was born with a musical talent, that enabled her to play the piano and accordion by ear. She attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, where she met the "love of her life", Robert "Bob" Knight, who had recently returned from serving his time in the United States Navy. This led to their marriage on June 3, 1949. They enjoyed and cherished over 70 years of their life together! Margaret was a lady small in stature, but her can-do attitude was inspiring. She was the ultimate problem solver and “can’t,” was not an option. She could cook a wonderful meal, sew a dress, nurse a wound, clean up a mess, balance a checkbook and that was just inside the house. Let her go outside and she worked in the yard, cut wood, and could change a tire, all before noon. She was a hero to her kids for her patience, understanding, kindness, love and most of all, her prayers. She was a devout Christian woman with an unwavering trust and faith in the Lord that was an inspiration to many. Her most cherished role in life was that of a wife and mother. As a grandmother, she was a competitive game player to the surprise of us all. Ping Pong, pool, Uno, dominoes, checkers, and miniature golf. You name it, she would try it. When the family needed extra income and insurance, she re-entered the working world as a substitute secretary and then an accounting clerk for School District #70. She had to work until the age of 70, but she did so with grace and professionalism. She achieved her goal of full retirement with benefits.
Preceded in death by: husband, Bob, son, Skip (Judy), parents, William and Eunice, brothers, Keith, Myron, Franklin, John, Roland and Harlan.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Al), son, Randy (Kam), grandchildren, Kelsey, Breely, Clay (Bretta), Clint, Casey (Clay), and several great-grandchildren, sister in-laws Nancy (Verne) and Shirley. She will also be remembered by her “sis” Donna, as well as, numerous nephews and nieces, other family and friends.
She will live on in our hearts and minds forever! Until we meet again, Rest in peace our dear Margaret, safe and secure in the loving arms of Jesus. At perfect peace and rest for evermore.
Memorials may be sent to Gideons International, or to Missions Ukraine Ministry through Pueblo Christian Center.
Please join the family for a Graveside Service on Thursday, April 10th, at 2:00 pm.
