She graduated from Central High School, Pueblo, in 1964, and attended college at Southern Colorado State College (now Colorado State University-Pueblo), graduating with her B.A. degree in English in 1967. Marilyn married Wilbur (Skip) Ladd in 1968 and through military and career moves they moved around the country including Nebraska, Texas, North Dakota, Virginia, Alaska, California and back to Denver. Marilyn taught middle school in Ft. Lupton and Ft. Collins, Colorado, and northern Virginia. She worked for the National Archives in Lakewood, Colorado, for nearly 15 years. In 2003, they moved to the La Veta, Colorado area until 2007 when she returned to her roots in Pueblo where she helped care for her mother and went back to CSU-Pueblo to get her master’s degree in creative writing.
Surviving Marilyn is her brother Mickey Andenucio of Pueblo, children Tiffany Steiner (Dan) and granddaughter Skylar living in Aurora, CO, Joshua Ladd (Tiffany) and their children Joshua Daniel and Alexandria living in Farragut, TN, and her former husband Skip Ladd. Also surviving her is her companion Joey Latino, cousins Joanna, Anthony, Joseph and their extended families. During her years growing up she helped her mother operate the Marilyn Kay Style Shop, a popular style shop started in 1956 until it was sold in 1967.
Her family wishes to thank the Sangre de Cristo Community Care for their professional and personal care during her final days.
Services will be held at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel, 5450 Hwy 78 W., Pueblo, CO 81005 on Monday August 22, 2022 at 10AM. Cremation has taken place.
