Martha Kathleen Wiseman was born September 2, 1925, in Atchison, Kansas to Floyd and Ina Smith. She had 4 siblings Vera Mae, Floyd James, William Ellis and Mary Ellen. For a short time at 18 Martha left Pueblo and went to Oregon to be with her older sister Vera. She went to work in the ship yards as a welder, welding on ships during the war.
On April 6, 1944 she married Robert W Wiseman in Pueblo Colorado at the justice of the peace. As a result of their union they had 4 children: Robert W Wiseman (Wife: Loydene), Floyd Allen Wiseman (Wife: Alice), Steven Lee Wiseman (Wife: Lynette), and Rebecca Mae Carty.
Martha was blessed with 8 Grandchildren: Floyd Steven Wiseman, Dawn Marie Hume (Husband Jim Hume), Jason Lewis Wiseman (Wife Nora), Scott Ronald Wiseman (Naomi), Nathan Allen Wiseman, Dana Lee Lowther (Husband Kevin Lowther), Crystal Marie Provost (Husband Timothy Provost), Heidi Danielle Carty. She had 11 Great Grandchildren: Dustin, Dillion, Ashley, Cory, Dawn, Emily, Abigail, Caitlin, Timothy, Alyssa, and Frankie. She also had 3 great-great grandchildren. Which if asked, were all the apples of her eye!
Also survived by brother-in-law, Ellis Wiseman and wife Louise, sister-in-law Mary Kimsey and husband Edgel, and cousin, Lois Paripovich and numerous nieces and nephews.
If you ask any of her family members what her greatest joy in her life was anyone would tell you her Family!! Camping trips with everyone. Holiday dinners and BBQ’s. Basically anytime the family was together. Her grandchildren’s fondest memories will be her singing folk songs, telling them stories or teaching them to fish on one of the camping trips.
Martha’s artistic talents were off the charts!! From painting beautiful mountain scenes, to crocheting afghans which she loved to give to her family, many of which won blue ribbons at the state fair. She made quilts most from fabrics of dresses, clothing or ties that she got from family members. Many were used only because she loved the color or the memories behind the garment. For many years she made Christmas Stockings for the occupants at the El Pueblo Boys Ranch. Also for several years she made the Christmas Wreaths for this very church to hang with pride. The painting that hangs downstairs in the fellowship hall was one she gave to the church after a remodel was completed.
The church was a big part of Martha’s life. She held many offices in the WCG Women’s church group. As well as taught bible school. She did her best to teach her family to keep Christ in their life. Her favorite saying was to tell them : I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
The passing of Martha has put a major void in her family’s life as well as anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing this great woman. But we all know that with her loving spirit, as we all come to the end of our own journey in this life she will be the first in line to welcome us home behind the pearly gates of heaven and the streets of gold!
