Mary D Martinez

On September 3, 2026, our beloved matriarch, Mary D. Martinez, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 99. Though her personal dream was to reach 100, Mary lived nearly a full century overflowing with love, deep faith, and unforgettable joy.

Mary carried the beauty of her early years close to her heart, often reminiscing about the days she would ride her cherished horse, Molly, to school. Her strong character and work ethic showed early when she took her first job at just 16. Mary went on working in dry cleaning for the civil service. But above all her life’s accomplishments, Mary’s true badge of honor was her home and her family. She was doted on and loved by her husband Joseph, while she poured her heart into being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

To step into Mary’s kitchen was to step into pure warmth. Wearing her special apron, she made memories with her hands and her heart. She shaped fresh tortillas and baked bread while dancing to oldies and Spanish music in the background. Her day would sometimes begin at 5:00 AM with music playing and a cheerful spirit. Mary lived carefree because her foundation was rooted in deep, unshakeable faith; she never worried, trusting whole-heartedly that God would always take care of the rest.

Mary had a delightfully playful spirit and loved to laugh. Those who knew her best will forever remember her smile, her warm embrace, and her firm boundaries—knowing full well never to mess with her when she was mad. Above all else, her family was her greatest treasure on this earth.

Mary was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Joseph Martinez; her beloved daughter, Geraldine Macias; and grandsons, Jeremy Caban and Matthew Trujillo.

Her enduring legacy of love lives on through her children: Dale Martinez, Brenda (Leroy) Wilbern, Cristina (Darren) Speier-Martinez, and Vernon (Lori) Martinez. She is also survived and forever cherished by her 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory in their hearts across generations.

Mary’s warmth, strength, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed, but the love she poured into her family will stay with us forever.
