Maxine Marie Klipfel, 62, was promoted to heaven on Friday, September 10, 2010. Born on July 11, 1948 to Henrietta and Rudolph Salazar in Dragerton, Utah. Maxine spent her life in Pueblo and Beulah, Colorado.
Maxine lived life to the fullest and was always thinking and doing for others. She spent her time here on earth ensuring that others had a “spark” of happiness in their lives. She was full of joy and laughter because she had such a love of Jesus and she truly desired to spread His love to others. She did this by her constant calling and visiting of friends, relatives and neighbors to check on them and see if they were ok. She truly cared for everyone that crossed her path. Over the last several years, she was a primary caretaker of her elderly parents while still working and taking care of her family.
She worked for 38 years at Dillard’s (Joslins) in various capacities. When you walked into that store, you just had to listen for her happy, boisterous laugh to find her, and when you found her you couldn’t help but smile and laugh yourself. She had just retired in June 2010 and was planning on spending a majority of her time with the joy of her life, her little grandson, Landon Lee Holderness, 6.
Maxine was a devout Catholic and so grounded in her faith; she was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Blende. Maxine was ordained a Eucharistic Minister and recently served at St. Joseph’s and at St. Mary Corwin Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister. She also served on the Board of Directors for the volunteer group at St. Mary Corwin. This was an accomplishment that was on her heart for years to do.
The world will never be the same without Maxine. We will truly miss her as mom, as “Mima”, as she was affectionately called by Landon, as sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, and true friend. Although we know she is in heaven with our Lord and know that we will someday be with her again, our hearts are aching in her absence.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Fred), Landon Lee and Justin Holderness of Castle Rock; dad, Rudolph Salazar Sr., sister, Mary Lou Salazar (Denver), brothers, Rudolph Jr. (Pueblo) and Robert J. Salazar (Houston), uncle and aunt, Armando and Sadie Chavez (Pueblo), Michelle’s mother-in-law, Saundra Holderness (Pueblo), niece Paula (Jim) Kolvek of Omaha, niece, Cindy Fransua, nephew Robert Jr. (Kat) Salazar (Denver), sister-in-law Deanne Kirby, and a host of very close friends and relatives too numerous to mention. Preceded in death by husband, David L. Klipfel, and her mother, Henrietta. Visitation Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Imperial Memorial Gardens. Services at St. Joseph’s Church 1145 S.
