Phyllis Mary Rogers was born on October 5, 1923, to Phillip Heinzman and Mary Selvage in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and completed her beautiful circle of life on September 12, 2018, at 94 years of age. Phyllis attended the old Centennial High School until 1941 when she met the love of her life, Roy Kenneth Rogers, and they married on July 25, 1941, before he left to WWII. From that union were born five daughters. Phyllis was an at-home mother and wife most of her life, being very devoted to her daughters and husband, Roy. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband of 40-plus years and beloved daughter, Beverly (Michael) Kailey. Phyllis is survived by daughters Mary (John) Pilcher, Carol Howard, Joy (Nick) Gemma, and Valerie White. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and a plethora of great and great-great grandchildren, remembering all of their birthdays. Phyllis loved football, especially the Broncos and John Elway. She could talk football and statistics with the best of them. She and Roy had a mountain cabin in Aspen Acres in San Isabel, which was theirs and the family’s favorite getaway. Phyllis loved the mountains, especially the fall colors of the trees, and loved to take walks in their mountain area. She was also an avid bowler and loved to read and fish until she lost her sight, then switching to Books on Tape. Phyllis had an adorable personality, and loved hearing and telling jokes. She was a very caring, feeling, and understanding person, and never demanded anyone’s time or attention. She would always listen and would offer her infinite wisdom and advice when asked for it. She was very loved by her vast family. Her leaving has left a big hole in our hearts, and she will be sorely missed.
