Placido Garduño, 91, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Placido lived a full and vibrant life rooted in family, community, and simple joys. Placido spent 42 years CF&I and retired from his position as Furnace Operator but was man of many passions. Placido loved gardening and was well known for his green thumb. He enjoyed playing cards at the union hall and was always up for a game with friends. One of his greatest pleasures was riding his scooter around town, visiting friends and family, and sharing his warm spirit wherever he went. He truly loved the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by nature.
Placido is survived by his children, Placido Garduño Jr., Leroy Garduño, and Ruby (Steven) Alcala; and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Garduño. He was a proud grandfather to James, Jessica (Benny), Ramona (Tom), Victoria, Eddie, Elena, Melissa (Andrew), Steven, Dante, Dario, LeeAnn and April. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He leaves behind dear friends Eleanor Pagels and Jimmy Valdez, whose companionship meant so much to him.
Placido was preceded in death by his parents, Esequiel Garduño and Flora Herrera, his beloved wife, Molly Garduño; his son, Eddie Garduño; his stepdaughter, Mary Chavez; his brothers, Esequiel Garduño and Aniceto Garduño; and his nephew, Richard Garduño.
Placido's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, joy, and love of life will not be forgotten.
The family would like to thank Vivian and Georgia from University Park Care Center and Diamond from Sangre De Cristo Hospice for the love and tender care they showed Placido.
A visitation will be held Monday May 12, 2025, at TG McCarthy Funeral Home from 4-6pm. 329 Goodnight Ave, Pueblo, CO 81004.
Visitation, Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday May 13th, 2025, at Our Lady of The Meadows Catholic Church, Pueblo, CO starting at 9am. 23 Starling Drive, Pueblo, CO 81005.
Luncheon reception will follow at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel after services. 5450 Hwy 78 West, Pueblo, CO 81005.
