Rachel graduated from South High School in 1991. For four years, she worked at Furr’s buffet where she loved getting to meet so many people. Her family was her entire world, especially her four children. She taught them about the things that matter most in life like being there for your family and the importance of helping as many people as you can. She loved to volunteer for Pueblo City Schools, and especially enjoyed helping students with disabilities. She also taught kindergarten religious education classes at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. She loved putting on her makeup everyday, cooking, Friday movie nights, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and taking care of her dogs Crystal, Alice, and Maggie.
Rachel was a fighter until the very end, having gone through two brain surgeries, kidney surgery, chemo, radiation, and shaving her hair that had previously grown past her ankles. Not once did she ever complain about having brain cancer but instead was more committed than ever to loving everyone around her. Through everything, her faith never wavered and she would talk about how Jesus walked beside her through it all. She will always be remembered for her love and kindness that she showed to everyone she met. She always had a smile on her face and would not want us to be sad for her.
Rachel’s love continues to live on through her parents Helen and Gilbert Rael, husband Edwen Casaus, children Steven, Christopher and Kristina, and brothers John and Greg Rael.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.imperialfunerals.com for the Casaus family.
