

Ramon Ermando Velasquez passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 93. Ramon was born in Weston, Colorado, to Rose and Ramon Velasquez. He later made his home in Pueblo, Colorado, where he built a life centered around family, service, and hard work. Ramon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Ramon worked as a mail carrier and was known by many as a true Jack-of-all-trades. Whether fixing or creating something, lending a helping hand, or sharing his wisdom, Ramon was always there for those around him. Ramon had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance. He was also a proud Native American and carried extraordinary pride in his heritage. Music was another passion of his—he loved playing the guitar and singing with his family, creating memories that will live on for generations. Those who knew Ramon will always remember his sense of humor and the clever sayings he often shared. One of his favorites was, “I ain’t talking till I see my lawyer.” His stories, laughter, and unforgettable anecdotes brought joy to everyone around him. Ramon is survived by his loving wife, Mary Velasquez; his children JoAnne Medina (Ted), James Velasquez (Shirley), Vince Velasquez (Shelly) and Greg Velasquez (Diane); his cherished grandchildren Clint Velasquez (Tiffany), Erin Medina-Burns (Carmara), Victoria Velasquez, and Brianna Velasquez; his beloved great-grandchildren Rynlee Velasquez and Josias Burns; as well as sisters Rebecca (Woody) Woodall and Shirley (Billy) Frazier. He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Ramon Velasquez; his siblings Marianne (Fred) Gutierrez, Jane Ann (Frank) Bueno, Rose (Tommy) Madrid, Margaret (Jess) Bueno, Albert (Dolores), Anthony (Jenny Mae), Alfonso (Gail), Gene (Ella Mae), Joseph (Valerie), and Victor (Willa Beth) Velasquez; as well as grandson, T.J. Medina.
Ramon’s life was defined by love for his family, pride in his heritage, dedication to service, and a spirit that brought laughter and warmth to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation for Ramon will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 9am-10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Followed by a funeral mass from 10am-11am. Final resting place for Ramon will be Imperial Memorial Gardens.
