Raymond “Ray” Ronald Fearheiley, 92, died September 21, 2026. Ray was born November 27, 1933. He grew up in Rockville, CO, where the steady roots of home and community began shaping the life he would spend in service to others.
Ray served as a medic in the Navy during the Korean War and later retired from the Naval Reserve. That same commitment to showing up—calmly, capably, and without hesitation—carried into his civilian work. He served the City of Pueblo as a fireman and fire engine operator, retiring in 1996, and also worked as a guard at the Colorado State hospital. In the fire department, Ray earned a reputation that matched the way he lived: remembered as a fearless name, and known for being the first to help whenever help was needed.
Away from work, Ray found joy in the simple, lasting pleasures of an active life. He loved bowling, big game hunting, and fishing, and he never tired of a drive through the mountains. Travel called to him, but so did the quieter satisfactions of gardening and time spent with family. Bonanza, CO was his favorite hunting spot, and some of his most cherished fishing days were spent at Blue Mesa and the Pueblo Reservoir.
Ray will be remembered for a generosity that asked for nothing in return, a kindness that made room for others, and a strength that steadied those around him. He could be stubborn, too—often in the way of someone who had learned to stand firm when it mattered. And even with the weight of responsibility he carried, Ray kept close a love of jokes and a sense of humor that warmed the people fortunate enough to share his company. Above all, he was a devoted dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and his legacy lives on in the family he loved and the many lives he touched.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Loretta Fearheiley; his spouse, Mary Martha Fearheiley; and 4 brothers & 1 sister.
Ray is survived his son, Jon Fearheiley (Michele); his daughters, Mary Brown (Randy) and Barbara Provost (Lauerance);his wife Verna Crowley and her children Dave and Mike; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
