Rita Emma Trujillo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away in her hometown of Pueblo, Colorado on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the age of 94.
Rita was born on May 22, 1928, in San Miguel, New Mexico to Isaac and Gabina Martinez. She had 7 brothers and 1 sister.
She was a caring mother to her 3 children, Mary Ann, John, and Dorothy. She had a loving marriage to her husband of 45 years, Alexander Trujillo. An adoring grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She gave her life to Christ and loved God with all her heart, mind, and soul. A faithful member of her church. She had the gift of being a prayer warrior and you could depend on her to remember you in her prayers.
She loved her pets, Ricky her parakeet, and Sparky her cherished poodle.
She was a great cook and we enjoyed her chili, tortillas, empanadas, and delicious pies just to name a few. She was quick to make a meal for anyone who would come over to visit.
She had a joy for sewing and this was one of her favorite hobbies. She made numerous blankets for her family and friends.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by all of us. We have peace that she is at home with God.
Rita is survived by her husband, Alexander Trujillo; children, John (Pearl) Martinez and Dorothy Burns; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence and Tony; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death, by her parents Isaac and Gabina Martinez; daughter, MaryAnn Suarez (Leonard); siblings, Benny, Archie, Johnny, Serferina, Louie, and Eddie.
