

Robert “Bobby” Pechek passed away December 19, 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary “Mae;” sons, David (Louise Burg) Pechek , Wayne (Lori) Pechek; grandchildren, Nikki (Troy Torreyson) Pechek, Jay (Meredith Ridge) Pechek, Sean Pechek, Dr. Ty (Lindsay) Pechek, Taneisha (Ryan) Schumann, Tony (Katie Hoge) Pechek; step-grandsons, Antonio Lazo, Ricardo (Viviana Vasquez Torres) Lazo; great-grandchildren, Mark, Ryan, Victoria Pechek, Cline, Colbie Schumann; sister, Mitzi Drobnick, many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Born December 30, 1923 to Joseph and Anna (Mismash) Pechek. He is preceded in death by his parents, 13 siblings, Joe “Jocko,” Ludwig “Zack,” Fred “Coogan,” Ann Giarratano, twins, Harold and Harvey, Walter, Frank “Inky,” Elsie Chorak, Phillip “Hank,” Charles “Chip,” Raymond “Razza” and Daniel “Guzz” Pechek. Bobby enjoyed boxing, fishing, fast-pitch softball, named All American in 1950, played professional baseball for the St. Louis Browns organization, and in 1989 was inducted into the Pueblo Sports Hall of Fame. A Marine Corps vet, he served in the Pacific Theater on Midway Island during World War II. He retired after 41 years at the CF&I steel mill.
