

Ronald L. "Whitey" Crocombe, 61, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 1, 2010. Ron leaves behind his brother, Larry (Karla) Crocombe; sisters, Sharon (Jonathan) Enabnit and Robin Hopkins; nephew, Jason (April) Runco; niece, Francesca Runco; grandnephews, Aaron and Kurtis; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Irene Crocombe; maternal and paternal grandparents; uncles, Max and Jack Wiley and Nate Crocombe; aunt, Alberta Fulcher; and brother-in-law, Mike Hopkins. A graduate of South High School in 1967, Ron was a stand-out athlete in basketball, baseball and tennis. He started and lettered for four years in basketball at Southern Colorado State College, where he also played baseball. And he spent summers playing semi-pro baseball for local teams. He was a master plumber by trade, working for the Colorado Mental Institute at Pueblo until his recent retirement. Ron was happiest in the great outdoors, golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, camping and hunting with family and friends. He always was willing to give a helping hand to family and friends. Recently, he found a new joy in his grandnephew, Aaron; and Aaron loved his Uncle, Ron. Memorial service, 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home.
