Ruth Naomi Harvey, 95, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on January 17, 1922, in Westernport, Maryland to Grace and Lewis Easton. She will be joining her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Harvey, as an angel of God. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and sisters, Marylouise and Carolina. Ruth graduated from Bruce High School in Cumberland, Maryland; and worked at the Celanese during World War II, was a Senior Psychiatric Technician at the Colorado State Hospital and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Pueblo Manor. But her main role was as a wife and mother to her 5 children, Nancy and Karen Harvey (Colorado Springs); Keith (Diana) Harvey (Creighton, Nebraska); and Kenneth Jr. and Karl Harvey (Pueblo). She is the grandmother of 4, Lance (Sandi) Harvey (Pueblo West); Brandon (Deon) Harvey (Parkville, Maryland); Heather Harvey (Grand Canyon, Arizona); and Stacy Harvey (Santa Cruz, California). Her legacy lives on in her 4 great grandchildren, Brooke and Hunter Harvey (Pueblo West); and Charlotte and Clara Harvey (Parkville, Maryland). Our mother was a member of Lake Avenue Baptist Church, where she attended until going to heaven. Ruth loved to play bunco, and was a member of the Sunshine Bunco Club for years. She taught her children to love games; and they often played Scrabble, Phase 10, Yahtzee, and dominoes. She looked forward to her monthly trips with her daughters to their place in Santa Fe. Ruth was a devoted mother, caring grandmother, loving great grandmother, and a friend to all who entered her life. Her ability to write personal notes in every card she sent endeared her to the many lives she touched with love and a wonderful sense of humor. We will miss our mother, but she lives on in all of us. Viewing will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at T.G McCarthy Funeral Home. A Celebration of a Life Well Lived will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home with Graveside Service at Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences, www.tgmccarthy.com.
