Susie, as all of her friends called her, was a woman that will be remembered by people all over the country. Beginning in college in Springfield, MO, her and Rick were always involved in some type of ministry always surrounded by music. They met in a traveling performance group while in college, and that began a life that continued for 47 years. They had lived in Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, California, Texas, and moved to Pueblo in 1999. Susie was a very soft spoken person until she felt something was not being done correctly. She held herself and her coworkers to a very high standard. Susie began working for Dignity funeral homes in 2000, and was the office manager at T.G. McCarthy Funeral home until she retired in 2019. Her attention to detail, loving care of families, and consistent drive for quality were her overall qualities. She also had a heart that reached out to families and people. In 2018 she noticed that her voice was beginning to get raspy and it gave her difficulty communicating. She stepped back to part time hoping that the decrease in hours would help her recover. They went to doctors, thinking it was allergy related. There was pursuits in every type of vocal help she could find. She had to quit singing and helping her husband lead worship in May of that same year. After many trips to different doctors, it was discovered that she had the conditions familiar to ALS. In December of 2019 the Neurologists determined that all signs pointed to what they feared. After battling every setback, she passed on Sunday, August 9 at 8:35 am with her husband at her side. Susie's family was always her priority. She had several "other" children that she adopted as they adopted her, always finding her heart as big as they needed. Her and Rick would enjoy going out to eat, watching movies, and any time they could take a trip that required no schedules or demands. She will have people from every part of this country that will remember her for who she was and the love she showed.
