It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Jean Dray, a compassionate soul and unwavering advocate for animals, who left us peacefully on July 27, 2025 at the age of 74.
Born with a generous heart and a nurturing spirit, Susan dedicated her life to the care and protection of animals, supporting numerous charities and organizations that echoed her unwavering belief in kindness toward all living beings. Whether rescuing strays or contributing to shelters, her legacy is one of empathy, generosity, and boundless love for creatures great and small.
Susan is survived by her brothers - Scott Dray, Doug Dray, Robert Cook, and Donald Cook - and her sisters, Jeanette Bifulco and Jan Counts. While their relationships had their complexities, her presence in the family will be remembered in various ways by those who knew her.
Her absence leaves a quiet space in the lives of those who knew her, but her compassion and strength continue to inspire. The world is gentler for having had Susan in it, and her memory will live on in every pawprint and act of kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Susan’s honor to her favorite animal charities, continuing the mission she held so dear.
