Susie Mae Morgan, 78, passed away at home among family on August 24, 2021. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1943. As a small child her family settled in Littleton, Colorado. As a young woman, Susie spent some time in California going to school and learning valuable work and life lessons. She returned to Colorado and began working for Pueblo West founder Robert McCulloch of McCulloch Properties in 1969. Her second marriage to Dahl Morgan brought with it two children whom she raised, and many adventures. They lived at Hillside Dairy and owned and ran East West Bakery for a few years before she and Dahl turned that into a Pawn Shop. She and Dahl also owned the Pueblo West Horseman’s Arena at one time.
Susie went back to work for the Pueblo West Metro District, where she spent 20 years, even serving as its Interim District Manager for a short time. She retired in 2005. Susie was known as one of the Pueblo West Historians with 50+ years of knowledge about the area.
Susie traveled extensively during her life, visiting places like Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Europe and much of the U.S. She and Dahl took many cruises and vacations to wonderful places with friends throughout the years.
Susie is survived by her two children, Dayna Morgan and Brett Morgan, her siblings, Sandra DeSollar, Patrick (Holly) Thompson, Mike Thompson, her niece Jennifer deJarnette (who was significant in caring for Susie in her last year) and nieces Elisha and Kaitlin, 4 grandchildren (Dahlis, Michaela, Alexis and Zachary) and 4 great grandchildren (Lyndzee, Wyatt, Remi and the newest addition due Sept 8th).
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life at Imperial Memorial Gardens reception hall at 5450 Hwy 78 West, Pueblo Co 81005 on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Sangre De Cristo Hospice.
