Suzanne Lynn Richardson passed away on Feb. 3, 2025. She is survived by her sisters Colleen Maxwell and Maureen Maxwell, niece Heather Ann Maxwell and her husband Cody Monheiser and their children Aspen and Forest, Aunt Alice Shimel, Uncle Richard Shimel, cousins David Shimel and Kathy Whaley and their families, Uncle Tom Vail and Aunt Marge Cargo.
Suzanne(Suzy by family) was an elementary school teacher in Albuquerque public school system and for Navajo Nation prior to that. She attended college at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado; Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colo.; and University of New Mexico,Albuquerque, earning a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. Suzanne is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Englewood, Colo.
Suzanne retired in 2016 and moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 2017.
Suzanne was creative and artistic, experimenting with different mediums, including painting and quilting. She played piano, was an avid reader, and liked cats. She had a dry and sharp sense of humor. She always had a bumper sticker on her car that said, "Question Authority."
She and her Aunt Alice especially connected, as both were teachers and quilters. In addition, as a teacher, Suzanne connected with students because she remembered what it was like not to be with the "IN" crowd and how hard school culture can be sometimes. She also never forgot the wonder of learning new things- she once told her sister Maureen that she especially enjoyed teaching first graders because she "could show them anything and they would say 'ooooo!'
