Vada Acrey, 88, passed away on July 1, 2023 in Pueblo, Colorado. She was the widow of Ace T. Acrey. Born in Venus, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Lucy Bryant. Vada was a teacher at PHCA and a Test Proctor PCC for several years. She spent 55 years teaching Sunday School, and working with special needs children.
Vada was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church for 71 years. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, being in the mountains, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her selflessness and her love for other people.
Vada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, and her son Wylie Carter.
She is survived by her son Jimmy (Marsha) Carter and daughter Lisa (Lee) Watson; grandchildren Melanie (Mickey) Kavanaugh, Andrea (Galin) Nelson, Nathaniel Rogers, and Ashleigh Rogers; step-grandchildren Sterling (Meggan) Watson, Robin Vaughn, and Jessi (Mike) Lucas; great grandchildren Levi Kavanaugh, Ella Kavanaugh, Aaron Kavanaugh, Reese Nelson, and Emma Nelson, as well as numerous step-great grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
A viewing will be held Saturday July 8, 2023 at 9am at Parkhill Baptist Church, 4235 Parkhill Place, Pueblo, 81008, followed by the funeral service at 10am. Vada will be laid to rest at Imperial Memorial Gardens, 5450 CO-78 West, Pueblo, 81005.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Care Staff at Bonaventure and Sangre de Cristo Hospice for the amazing care they provided to Vada.
