

Vivian Lucille (Merten) Davis passed away peacefully July 15, 2015. She was born in Des Moines, IA. October 28, 1924 to Harris and Ada Belle (Lund) Merten. Vivian graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1942. She married her childhood sweetheart, Howard Davis, Jr. on April 21, 1942. Howard, the love of her life, preceded her in death on April 8, 1995 after 53 years of marriage. A year after Howard got out of the military service, Howard and his family moved to Pueblo, CO. Vivian worked at White and Davis Department Store, Town Talk Bread Company, and the Star Bread Company in the bread store for 17 years. Vivian was a member of Central Christian Church and CWF Group 4, the Canasta Club, Crazy Eights, the Veteran Motor Car Club of America, the Model A Ford Car Club and the Southern Colorado A’s. Howard and Vivian traveled from state to state in their 1929 Model A Ford. Vivian enjoyed shopping, especially antique shops, looking specifically for pretty dishes and sweet dolls for her collection, and she loved family gatherings. They were blessed with three children, Howard III (Marshia) Davis of Brighton, Co., Maureen (Bruce) Miller of Melbourne, Florida and Frederick Sr. (Wende) Davis of Pueblo West, CO. Vivian had nine grandchildren, Dixie (Steve) Oltman of Utica, NE., Mandie (Jerry) Mousseau of Utica, NE., Daniel (Ruth) Potter of Stewart, NE., Preston (Heather) Davis of Centennial, CO., Stacy (Darren) Horning of Thornton, CO., Nichelle Miller of Ft. Collins, CO., Natalie (Gary) Hardey of Melbourne, Fl., Domonique Davis of Pueblo West, Co, and Frederick Jr. (Olga) Davis of Pueblo, Co. She had 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by former daughter-in-law Rose Keeling. Vivian was the youngest of five children, brothers Kenneth, Russell, Neil and sister Beulah Moore who preceded her in death.
The family will greet friends from 5 – 6 P.M. July 17, 2015 at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth St., Pueblo, Co. with services being held at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2 P.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015 with The Reverend Dan Weaver officiating, Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetary.
A gathering will be held at Central Christian Church, 1902 N. Hudson, following Interment to celebrate Vivian’s life.
