Mr. William (Bill) G. Lopez, Sr., son of the late Andy and Nina Lopez was born April 8, 1935 in Springer NM. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Maria (Marcie) Lopez who went to her heavenly glory on December 10, 2017. Bill and Marcie were united in holy matrimony on November 29, 1958. Their marriage was centered in Jesus Christ. They were married for 59 years and nearly inseparable after he retired. He was a man of strong faith and character. He loved his wife and family dearly. His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his five children, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He served our country in the Navy, active duty from January, 1954 to November, 1957 and in reserves from November, 1957 to January, 1962. Bill was a dedicated provider and worked hard to provide for his family. His career included working at Martin Marietta for several years which included moving the family to Louisiana for four years. He returned to Colorado and started working at Colorado Correctional Industries in Canon City, Colorado. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 1997 after managing the Canteen for several years.
Bill was a man of many talents and had remodeled several homes and built one from the ground up. He always put family first and he was always there to help them. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. After retirement, he and Marcie enjoyed taking trips to Laughlin NV.
He is survived by his children: Cynthia (Corinne) Lopez, Linda (Delayne) Tornowski, William (Leta) Lopez, Jr., Michael (Cris) Lopez, and Edward (Chris) Lopez.
Grandchildren include: Christina (Dalton) Lopez, Anna Marie (Hector) Sanchez, Anthony Tornowski, Danielle (LaDell) Lee, Angela (Greg) Tornowski, William (Chaz) Lopez, Sydney Lopez, Nicole (Drew) Price, Marissa Lopez, Stephen (Jenn) Lopez, and Haley Lopez. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Zamora, Laura (Johnny) Piquette, and Janet (Terry) McGee. He was proceeded in death by his brother Seneca Lopez.
His service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday March 25th at Sacred Heart Cathedral 414 W 11th St, Pueblo, CO 81003, proceeded by the Rosary at 9:30 A.M. Interment will follow the service at Imperial Gardens 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, CO 81005 followed by a Reception at The Shrine of St. Therese 300 Goodnight Ave, Pueblo, CO.
