He was born on February 7, 1936 in Pulaski, TN to the late John William Bell and Delma Brooks Oakes. He graduated from Giles County High School, attended Martin Methodist College, was a Paratrooper in the US Army, and retired as a security guard and assistant cashier at the First National Bank in Ardmore, a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, and member of the Quail Hunters Association. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Leon Oakes, his sister, Mary Ellen Windsor, and his nephew, Bill Windsor.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Faye Bell of Pulaski, TN, his sons, Johnny Bell of Pulaski, TN, and Jim-Bo Bell of Pulaski, TN, his daughter, Debbie Chapman and husband Ricky of Pulaski, TN, his sister-in-law, Virginia Cole of Goodspring, TN, his brother-in-law, Dock Gaines of Pulaski, TN, several of his nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, Channing Shannon, Kaitlan Womble, and Marianna Bell, and his great grandchildren, Carter Shannon, Chance Shannon, Cruz Shannon, Kylan Harvey, and Ansley Harvey
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will held at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on May 23, 2020 with the burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
