Barbara Lynn Curk Clayton, age 70, of Pulaski, TN, passed away on August 28, 2016, at Life Care Nursing in Columbia, TN. Barbara suffered multiple strokes in early August, and was hospitalized until it became clear she would not recover, at which time she was transferred into hospice care. She worked at the Giles County Public Library since 2002, and was best known as “the library lady” at the Lynnville Branch, where she served as Branch Manager since 2010.
Barbara was born on November 24, 1945 and grew up in Lakeland, FL. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and a whole host of other crafts, and gladly taught others when given the opportunity. She loved reading and had a special fondness for Agatha Christie mysteries. Every year, she counted the days until the fall colors started to pop up, thoroughly enjoyed watching football, and never quite gave up hope that the Chicago Cubs would win a World Series.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Henry Clayton and her parents George and Eunice Curk. Survivors include two sons, Byron Dickens and Neil Dickens of Texas, daughter Emily Rose Clayton of Pulaski, siblings Stuart Curk and Susan Truesdell of Florida, and innumerable friends throughout the community, including her best friend Gail Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2nd, at 2pm at the Church of the Messiah in Pulaski, followed by burial at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery. At her wishes, no visitation or viewing will be held, but all who wish to pay their final respects are welcome to attend the funeral services, and are invited to wear green in memory of her favorite color. Carr & Erwin Funeral Home is responsible for the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Giles County Public Library.
