

Cleo was born February 8, 1924, in rural Keota, to Curvin and Margaret (Seitsinger) Baughman and graduated from North English High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Cleo returned to Keokuk County and farmed for several years. He then moved to Moline, Illinois, where he was a welder for the McLaughlin Company. On July 12, 1969, he married Katie Wiser and the couple lived in Rock Island, Illinois and Huntsville, Alabama until her passing. Cleo then moved to Washington. He was a member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed baseball, bowling, gardening, flowers, telling stories and was an avid collector of many things.
Survivors include a daughter: Denise Baughman Montano of Phoenix, Arizona; step-son: Kerry Drew Tucker of Tennessee; step-daughter: Marcelene Juniper of Keota; seven grandchildren: Angela, Christopher, Candace, Steven and Chelcie, all of Phoenix, Jeffrey of Hudson, Florida and J.J. of Las Vegas, Nevada; four great grandchildren: Elijah, Tyler, Jeff and Savanna; brother: Daryl (Irene) Baughman of Keota; two sisters: Leita Manthei and Margaret Harriman; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Katie; brothers: Robert, Kenneth and Cloyce Baughman; sister: Marjorie (Laymon) Coble; brothers-in-law: Jerry Manthei and Dale Harriman and nephew: Doug Roberts.
Funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Rev. Robert Spilger officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
A visitation with the family will be Friday July 24, 2015 from 10 am till 10:45 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home in Pulaski with Graveside service to follow at 11 am at Giles Memory Garden in Pulaski with military rites by the Giles County Honor Guard.
