His parents were the late Robert Chesley and Lillie Dale Scott Newton. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Bragg and Orlean Darnell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Arthur Newton, of the Sumac community, his son Lynn Newton of Ringgold, GA, his daughter Cindy Williams and husband Tony of Pulaski, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
Visitation with the family will Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery.
