George Wynne Newman

George Wynne Newman, of Elkton passed away June 5, 2019. He was a retired Merchant and Farmer and 76 years old. He has been a member of Elkton Baptist Church since 1972, where he served as a deacon. He also served as president of the Giles County Historical Society. His parents were the late George Lee and Era Odell Wynne Newman. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lee and Mellville Thomas Newman, and his aunt Patricia Conley Weese Newman. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lynn "Sherry" Simmons of Elkton, his son, George Newman, Jr. of Elkton, his brother, Joseph McConnell Newman of Ardmore, his sister-in-laws, Deborah Newman of Florence, AL, and Amanda Lucille Newman of Pensacola, FL, Aunts, Valerie Newman & Billie Jean Carr Newman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Elkton Baptist Church, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery.
