

Giles Collier, age 83 of Lynnville, Tennessee died November 6, 2016 of pneumonia and lung cancer . He was 83. Giles graduated in 1951 from Campbellsville High School. He served four years in the USAF. He retired from the federal government in 1979, where he worked in foreign military sales. Upon retirement, he farmed and worked as a school bus driver for the Giles County School System and was a Giles County Commissioner. He was elected Giles County Executive from 1994 to 1998. He also worked as a Committing Magistrate until he retired a final time. He was a member of the Lynnville United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the American Legion Post 60, and VFW Post 4577.
Giles Collier was born October 11, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Bonds Collier, a son Mark Collier of Columbia, TN and a daughter Betsie Potasz and husband Gilles Potasz of Marietta, GA and one grandson, Nicolas Collier Potasz of Marietta, GA. He is survived by a sister Patsy Helton of Franklin, TN and a sister-in-law Patricia (Sissy) Collier of Pleasant View, TN, He is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell Hooper Collier and Nellie Cowell Meek Collier and by his brother, William (Billy) Collier.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9th. Burial will follow at Lynnwood Cemetery.
