Joseph was born in Burlington, IA on August 30, 1948 to Albert and Francille Henry VanEst. He was a retired truck driver for B-4 Transportation who was an avid coin collector, fisherman, and diamond painter. Joseph showed his love for his family and his country by dutifully serving as a Marine. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Fannie; wife of 49 years Lorene VanEst; daughter Sheila VanEst; brothers David VanEst, James VanEst; granddaughter Cassandra VanEst; and two great granddaughters.

Joseph is survived by his sons David Paul VanEst (Thersea) of Lawrenceburg, Joe VanEst, Jr. (Patricia) of Florida; daughters LaShawn Smith (James) of Pulaski, Candace Simmons (Patrick) of Pulaski; sister Lori VanEst of California; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; fur babies Pepper and Dunn; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
