

He was an Elder at Fairview Church of Christ for many years, a former member of the Giles County Hospital Board, a former board member at First National Bank, a board member of Giles County Livestock Association, a board member of the Giles County Co-Op, he bred, raised, and promoted Limousin Cattle, he was on the board of directors at the National Cattlemen’s Association, and he received the award for Beef Producer of the year from the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Sr. and Lera Elizabeth Skelly Walters, his wife, Mary Delores Walters, his son Paul Walters, his brother Joe Walters, and his sister, Lucille Thurman.
Survivors include his daughter Carol Gordon and husband Steve of Olivet Community, his brother Bob Walters and wife Pat of La Grange, Ga., his sisters Virginia Cheek of Brentwood, Nellie Brown of Bowling Green, Edith Young of Florida, and Elizabeth Poulsen of California, his grandchildren, Karen Allen and husband Joel, and Stephen Gordon and wife Amanda, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Fairview Church of Christ, 1765 Industrial Loop Road, Pulaski, Tennessee. The family will also receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 12 noon until the Funeral Service begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
