

Tony served with distinction as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War before becoming a NYC Transit Cop from 1965 until his retirement in 1979. Renowned for his expertise in firearms and officer safety, he earned numerous awards in competitive shooting and was inducted into the Transit Police Sports Hall of Fame on October 9, 2014. After retiring from law enforcement, Tony played a pivotal role in the development of Kevlar bulletproof vests as Vice President of Point Blank Body Armor, applying his firsthand experience to designs that helped save the lives of countless police officers.
Tony was preceded in death by his son, John Borgese; his parents, Maria Totaro Borgese and Illuminato Borgese; his brother, Nunzio Borgese; and his sister, Rose Cilluffo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Catherine Borgese; his children, Anthony Borgese (Marylou) and Marie Maidhof (James); his step children, Amanda Stein (Adam) and Justin Cohen; his grandchildren, James, Andrew, and Matthew Maidhof, Melissa Minervini, Luke Borgese, Ella and AJ Stein; and his cherished great-grandson, Luca Minervini.
Anthony Borgese will be remembered for his dedication to service and family, his integrity, and the enduring impact he made on the safety of those who serve.
