

Charlie was born in Brooklyn, NY, the beloved son of Charles and Mary Sliwkoski. He was raised in Massapequa, NY, where he formed the foundation of a life marked by loyalty, humor, and strength. After graduating from Massapequa High School, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on September 17, 1965. As a proud Lance Corporal with H&S Company, First Battalion, Third Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division, he served bravely during the Vietnam Conflict. His honorable service earned him the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on September 1, 1967.
Returning home, Charlie continued to build a meaningful life. He earned a degree in accounting from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY, and began his career at Price Waterhouse in New York City. He later found his professional home at First American Title Insurance Company, where he rose to the role of Chief Financial Officer and built a career defined by integrity and hard work.
Charlie lived life fully and joyfully. He made lasting memories in Oakdale and Hunter, NY, where he found great happiness in beach days, boating adventures, skiing trips, and time spent with friends. He loved to travel with the U.S. Chef’s Ski Club and found peace and laughter on the golf course at St. Andrews South Golf Club.
Above all, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared 39 beautiful years of marriage with his wife Karen, who was the love of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother David (Joan), brother-in-law Daniel, son Scott (Karen), daughters Kristie (Scott) and Jeryl (Mike), and his cherished grandchildren: Lindsay, Haley, Eric, Michael, Justin, Rachel, Allison, Kyle, Brian, and Kevin. He also leaves behind his niece Julia, nephews Dylan and Ian, and great-grandsons Henry and Bennett.
Charlie was the kind of person who made everyone feel at home. He had a warm heart, a quick wit, and an unforgettable laugh. He loved to tell a good joke and took genuine joy in making others smile. His kindness and humor touched everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda. All who knew and loved Charlie are warmly invited to attend. His final resting place will be on Long Island, NY, later this summer.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever in our hearts.
