Dennis James Neff

Born May 12, 1959, in Cortland, New York, Dennis was the son of the late Bernard (Barney) and Janet Neff. The family moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, in 1962, where Dennis grew up and built lifelong friendships. He graduated from Charlotte High School, excelling in both wrestling and football.

Dennis served his country with honor in the United States Army for eight years, including active service during Desert Storm. His unwavering commitment to duty, deep love for the United States of America, and devotion to his fellow soldiers remained defining parts of his life.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his oldest son, Dennis James Neff, Jr.; his nephew, Matthew Reid Pouk; and his father‑in‑law, James Curtis Williams, Sr.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debora Neff; his daughter, Juliet Neff Schebilski; and his three sons: David Neff, Ryan Neff (Cristle), and Bryce Neff.

He leaves behind eight grandchildren—Justin Neff, Jarrod Schebilski, Bradley Neff, Brianna Neff, Skylar Neff, Kayden Neff, Drake Schultz, and Justin Atwood—and two great‑grandchildren: Tanner Dennis James Parker and Cody Allen Parker.

He is further survived by his mother‑in‑law, Virginia Williams; his brother‑in‑law, Curtis Williams; and his sisters‑in‑law: Joyce Rohrbeck (John) and Kathy Jones (Jessie), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dennis will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, strength, and the deep love he carried for his family and community. He cherished the years he spent working at Port Charlotte High School, where he found a second family among the Pirate staff and students. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.

We will gather to honor his life on Thursday, August 13 at 7:00 PM at New Day Christian Church, North Port Campus, 7000 Sumter Crossings Dr., North Port, FL 34287. Pastor Rusty Russell will officiate the service. Military honors will be performed during the service and a light reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Port Charlotte High School Football Program in Dennis’s honor.
