Edmond Joseph Kaye, 86, a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away quietly on September 30, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June, his children Michael(Cindy) and Elaine. He was the loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Joey, Samantha, Jordan, and Tyler, and a great-grandfather to Finn (Jessica).

The youngest of 5 children Ed was born on August 2, 1934, in Jamaica Queens, New York to Arthur and Mary Loretta Kaye. One surviving sibling, Robert (Connie) resides in South Florida.

"Eddie" as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed fast cars, drag racing, boats, and airplanes. He was an active member of the Peace River Car Club where he forged many friendships and comrades.

Ed served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. This led to a long and respected career as a commercial airline pilot, pilot instructor, and an FAA examiner. During his career, Ed traveled all over the world. He was admired for his knowledge and patience as an instructor and crew member.

Ed was loved by his family and friends for his loving support, great sense of humor, and being an overall great guy.

There were no strangers to Eddie, only friends he had yet to meet. Although a deep loss, he left us with many happy memories.

It is with with deep sympathy that we learned of my Uncle Ed's passing. Over the years, we often shared tales of our aviation careers. He had such a way with words and always the best stories. Please rest in peace Uncle Ed.

How inspiring to have known and been with Eddie! He was kind. He was jovial. He was a true friend. He was brave in all things especially fighting his medical issues. What a joy to have cooked my Italian specialties for such a guy so full of life. So glad you wanted seconds!

Condolences to June and the family. I know you are proud to have lived with such a wonderful leprechaun.
Best wishes

“Eddie” what can i say that hasn’t already been said? Eddie kept us laughing. You couldn’t not be happy when he was around. One of the finest people i knew. Example: We were on a layover in Rome, Italy. Eddie was waiting in the limo for us to go to the airport. Instead of calling our room and telling us to get down there, Eddie called and said to Al: “Hey Ceasar, your chariot awaits😂😂😂” That’s the way he was. Godparents to my daughter, Joey :Eddie and June.
