Gene was born in Punta Gorda, Florida on November 8, 1947 to Bill and Martha Midgett. He lived in Florida all his life (Fort Myers, Venice, and Naples plus other cities) except for the time he spent in the US Army and a tour in Vietnam. Gene was proud to have serviced his country and to make a difference in the world.
Gene started fishing with his dad and worked as a fisherman in the waters around Punta Gorda in his early years. When he returned from Vietnam, he went to work in construction and made that his life’s work.
On August 24, 1970 he married the love of his life, Doris Ann Midgett. They spent 49 years as man and wife. Gene left behind a son, Ronald Eugene Midgett, Jr. And three daughters Lorie Anne Wood, Tammy Lynn Capps, and Wendy Dawn Midgett. He also had 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren all that he loved very much. Gene also leaves behind a brother William Paul (Barbara) Midgett and a sister Christy (Ron) Crandall. Gene also left behind many cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
