George W. Palmer, age 84 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away November 25, 2021. He was born September 8, 1937 in Hebbville, Maryland to Boyd L Palmer, Sr. and Bertha M. Palmer (nee Nicholson). George graduated from Milford Mill High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army from 1956-1959 and then the National Guard from 1960-1962. He was a member of the Corvettes of Charlotte County and the Freestate Corvette Club in Maryland. George and Shirley loved to travel. They have been to 45 states, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. They also loved to tour Europe, including Italy, England, Scotland, and Wales and have taken many cruises to the Caribbean. George loved boating and fishing on the Chesapeake and Assawoman Bay. He loved cars, especially corvettes and enjoyed going to car shows. George was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael L. Palmer; and his siblings, Hazel Goins, Stella Foster, Boyd L. Palmer, Jr., Shirley Gibson, and Judy Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Palmer; daughter, Terry L. (Charles) Bourgeois; grandchildren, Jonathan D. Trimboli, Jennifer L. Trimboli, and Michael J. Trimboli; great grandchildren, Dakoda Given, Eli Matchin, and Stella Trimboli; and his sister, Jeannie Baublitz. A Memorial Service for George will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11am at First United Methodist Church; 507 W Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
