

Giovy was born on February 3, 1929 in Key West, Florida to Joaquin and Adalia Romaguera, and relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida from Miami 31 years ago. Giovy retired from Jackson Memorial Hospital as a Coordinator of Quality Assurance. She was a member of the Murdock Baptist Church and was active in the Children's Ministry.
She is survived by her 5 daughters, Cynthia (Raymond) Dennis of Tampa, Florida, Janet (Bill) Denhoff of Tampa, Florida, Kim (Bruce) Cadrain of Port Charlotte, Florida, Denise (Don) Evans of Tucson, Arizona, and Debi Morrin of Clermont, Florida; 2 sons, James (Carolyn) Arias of Beverly Hills, Florida and Douglas Byrd of Ocala, Florida; 2 sisters, Tonie (Tom) Hetzel of Marietta, Georgia and Cecelia Schlagheck of Winchester, Tennessee; 19 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. Giovy was preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Adalia Romaguera; one son, Dorsey Byrd; her son-in-law, Tony Morrin; her daughter-in-law, Teresa Byrd; her brother, Joaquin Romaguera Jr.; her husband of 25 years, James J. Arias; and her husband of 39 years, Carroll E. Byrd.
A Celebration of Life to honor Giovy will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Murdock Baptist Church, 18375 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Entombment will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens Cemetery ,9400 Indian Springs Rd, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
