outdoorsman passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in Punta Gorda Florida. Born in Michigan on March 26, 1936, he was 89 years old.
Born and raised as an only child in Detroit, Henry practised dentistry as a Captain in the Army after earning a DDS degree from the University of Michigan. He then started private practice and eventually built a thriving dental business in Saginaw Michigan where his clients included a number of pro bono patients where in some cases he paid for the cab fare for travel to his office.
Henry's love for the outdoors was legendary among friends and family. In the early 1970s, during a routine dental visit with a young Navy veteran and budding entrepreneur named Denny Whalen, Henry lamented the lack of a proper outfitter for backpacking gear in the Tri-Cities area. That casual conversation sparked the founding of The Stable Outdoor Outfitters, Saginaw's oldest bike and outdoor shop, where Henry proudly served as one of the original investors alongside Whalen, stockbroker Andrew Spence, and engineer Jacob Stoner.
Henry’s other interests included skiing, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, car collecting, woodworking and raising his bird dogs. Henry was also an avid sailor where he was the top competitor at the Little Traverse Yacht Club in M20 Class racers. With a keen eye for real estate, Henry owned many residential and commercial properties over the years, including two homes built on his private
island in Lake Michigan.
Henry is survived by his wife of 72 years, Carol Louise Noehles, and well as his four children Kimberly Burgh (Punta Gorda), Michelle Gamble, Kevin Noehles (both of Harbor Springs) and Linda Adams (Seattle). A strict but loving father, Henry also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and his beloved dog Ruby.
A Celebration of Life celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in memory of Dr. Henry Noehles to the Dementia Society of America www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
