

Jean Bauer Halsey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on February 10, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 81. Born on August 29, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, Jean was a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida at the time of her passing.
Affectionately known to many as “Mean Jean the real estate machine” and honored as Central Vermont Realtor of the Year, Jean dedicated her career to helping others find their homes. As a committed real estate broker, she was admired for her professionalism, care for clients, and significant contributions to the real estate community.
Jean cherished warmth, sunshine, and the simple joys of life, especially cold-water lobster. She spent her childhood summers at her maternal grandparents’ family home in East Dennis, Massachusetts, and later in Ogunquit, Maine, savoring precious moments by the beach. Upon retirement, Jean and her husband, Bob, traveled the country in their RV before settling in Florida in 2018.
Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Robert D. Halsey; her brother, Steve Bauer; her son, Michael Tillou; her daughters, Amy Tillou, Lori Halsey, Lee Perry, and Nancy Flasck; and her nieces, Alyssa Leon and Clea McDow. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Madison Tillou, Evan Tillou, Juila Deen, Ryan Deen, Jewel Mason, Jake Mason, Jess Mason, August Kuron, Lindsay Kuron, Jeffrey DiQuattro, Alex DiQuattro, Katie Lewis, and Annie Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Provost Bauer, and her father, Frank Belding Bauer.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the therapists at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center for their expertise and compassionate support, which helped Jean maintain her mobility in later years.
Jean will be remembered for her unwavering determination, spirited nature, and the profound impact she made on everyone she loved. Her legacy of strength and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
