We were so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We were neighbors with him for a number of years. He was always very kind and easy going. I would see him patrolling along the state property when I was out on  our  property or passing by via car or run into him  down at the waterfront  in PG walking his dog or exercising. He loved the outdoors. And he loved his girls very much. I pray that God’s peace and comfort are on his beloved family he left behind.

I'm sincerely sorry to hear of John's passing. We met many years ago when I was volunteering at CHEC, and became friends later when our daughters were in the same class at CHS. In my memories of those long-gone days John will always be one of the good guys -- and he will be missed by many others whose lives he touched.

I am so incredibly sorry, John was an amazing and kind man. He was caring, wise and loving. He had a huge impact on my life growing up, as his daughter Kristian was my best friend. He would always set up a tent in their backyard when we  wanted to go "camping", there was always an open invitation to his house, be it to hang out or sleepover, and when my own father died he helped me cope by always listening and giving bear hugs whenever needed.  John is the prime example of a loving father, an excellent mentor, and a great friend. He will be very sorely missed.

I remember having lunch with John and when it was over, it occurred to me the ease with which the man laughed and smiled. We were discussing work, but it didn't feel like work and I can't recall having actually worked at all. We fell into an easy conservation and the time just flew by. John always seemed to be laughing and in good spirits, even on the phone you could hear his smile coming through. I've never had someone tell me no with more good nature in all my life. We were peers and he welcomed me day 1 and encouraged me. I know John is still here, in the park, on the trails, still smiling his way through the wilds.

John was a great guy and would become friends with just about everyone he met. He also had a great passion for history and archaeology, and it was always great to see him at the state annual FAS conference. 

Learning of John's passing was hard news.... I only  met John when we (D1 strike team) came the CHPSP to do hurricane recovery work  last October.
John was very engaging, friendly and appreciative of us coming to help at his park. He was a genuinely nice guy.  He sat with us one evening and told us of how he had  come to join the Florida Park Service.
