of Denmark where he grew up playing soccer. He went on to play club soccer in both Denmark
and New Zealand. Jorn became a naturalized citizen of the United States in recent years. For
most of his life he worked in youth soccer leagues as a knowledgeable, much respected, much
loved, and winning coach. He was the president of The Danish Soccer Academy; he coached in
Massachusetts, Virginia, and Florida. Most recently, he lived and coached in Beaumont, Texas.
He made a huge impact on many young lives, became a father figure to a select few and will
continue to live on through them, his children and grandchildren. Jorn Hansen was the man who
could befriend anyone, self-titled "handyman", and loved to embarrass his children (and amuse
his granddaughters) by singing loudly in grocery stores. He was a staple in a lot of people's lives
and will be sorely missed.
Jorn is survived by his two daughters Briannah of Port Charlotte and Sofie of Punta Gorda
along with the mothers of his children Nicole of Punta Gorda and Kristen of Port Charlotte; his
three grand-daughters: Ella, Lucy, and Addy, all of Port Charlotte; and his son Erik and his wife
Sejal of Orlando. He is also survived by step-daughter Caisey Bluck of Tampa; and stepsons
Patrick Bluck of Tampa and James Bluck of Punta Gorda. Jorn leaves behind many friends and
members of his extended soccer family.
A gathering in celebration of Jorn Hansen’s life is scheduled for March 28 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at
Ms. Hansen’s home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hansen Girls’ College Fund
in support of his daughters and grand-daughters, 1109 Harbor Glen Place, Punta Gorda, 33983.
