

Born in Pittsburgh to Delta (Galvin) Krauss and William Krauss, he attended Pennsylvania State University where he majored in Industrial Engineering. Len went on to earn an MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
Len was one of IBM's first Systems Engineers in the 1960s. In the 1970s he authored four books: "Administering and Controlling the Company Data Processing Function" (Prentice Hall); "Computer-Based Management Information Systems" (American Management Association); "Computer Fraud and Countermeasures" (Prentice Hall); and "SAFE (Security Audit and Field Evaluation for Computer Facilities and Information Systems)," which was a checklist companies used to audit and safeguard their computer systems. His books were used as textbooks. He was invited to lecture before the FBI on computer security; Len was a man ahead of his time.
Len retired as Vice President-Director of Global Technology Auditing, from Credit Suisse First Boston in New York.
In retirement he sailed, power-boated and waterskied on the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, where he built a home on Goose Creek Cove in Toms River.
During winters he went on various ski trips, including Sun Valley, Idaho; Lake Tahoe, Heavenly anSquaw Valley in Nevada and California; and resorts in the Northeast.
For two winters he attended Gray Rocks ski school in Quebec Province in Canada, where he earned a gold medal in his advanced division.
Wanting to sail year-round, Len moved to Punta Gorda, where he sailed his Gemini 105 MC catamaran throughout the Gulf islands and the Florida Keys. He also spent many hours improving the boat and designing various fittings for it.
An active boater on Charlotte Harbor, Len belonged to a number clubs over the years, including the Cruising Club and later, the Mariners of PGI, the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, the Punta Gorda Boat Club, and the Charlotte Harbor Multihull Association.
Locally, Len served as president of his homeowners association at Mariners Cove and was also an active member of various social clubs, including Café Philo.
Len is survived by his three daughters - Melissa (Stan), Dawn (Alan) and Kim, his sister Delta (Tom), and his beloved grandchildren: Bella, Zack, Nikki, and Blake.
