Lucille Veronica Gomez, born June 1, 1922, transitioned into glory on March 7, 2026, at the age of 103. She was known to everyone simply as “Grandma.” Grandma was a devoted and loving mother to four children, and her steady discipline helped carry her family through life.
Grandma was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, West Indies, and in her early childhood moved to Kingston, Jamaica, where she grew up alongside her sister Sybil and brother Boise. She later migrated to the United States, spending most of her time in New York before retiring and moving to Florida. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida.
In Kingston, Jamaica, Grandma worked as a sales clerk for a prominent retail company. After moving to the United States, she continued her retail career with Bloomingdale’s in New York City.
Grandma’s hobbies included sewing, cooking, traveling, and riding her bike everywhere—always engaging others with kindness and love. She treasured time with her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and an abundance of friends. Grandma Lucille Gomez will be dearly missed by all.
A service will be held June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
