Mary "Violet" Clark

Born on October 20, 1925, in Osgood, Missouri, she was the daughter of Dr. Claude Martin and his wife, Violet (Weston) Martin. Mary V. was united in marriage to Ward M. Clark on February 10, 1945, in Kirksville, Missouri.

Mary V. and Ward had two children, Barbara Ann Clark and a son, Martin Lane Clark, who survives her. She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Kirston Otis, Amanda Burrell, and Matthew Burrell.

Mary V. was raised in Kirksville and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1943. She later attended Teachers College in Kirksville to further her education.

A devoted community member, Mary V. was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and volunteered at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

Following her husband’s retirement in 1989, Mary V. moved to Punta Gorda, where she lived out her later years.

She will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to family, education, and service to others.

A Memorial Service for Mary V. will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11 am at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home; 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
