Peggy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 10, 1949 to Carlo and Audrey Cacioppo. She lived with her parents and family in Chicago, graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked in her early years for one of the city's large banks. Later she worked for Human Resources companies in the Chicago area until her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband, David, built a home in Punta Gorda in 2010 where they spent their winter months until 2018 when they moved there permanently.
Peggy was active in the Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club which they joined in 2011. She was a voracious reader of novels, a regular in Zumba and Water Exercise classes, loved to walk along the Harborwalk and be outside on her lanai whenever possible. She was a regular smiling face and warm personality to club members as well as ladies' neighborhood Friday luncheons.
Peggy was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love and compassion. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her husband, family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. Remember Peggy, not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Those who knew Peggy will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter and her unwavering commitment to spreading caring and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift of making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
Although Peggy's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Audrey Cacioppo. She is survived by her husband, David of 20 years, her daughter from a previous marriage Cari Sherer (James), her two grandchildren MacKenna Sherer and Camden Sherer whom she cherished, Sisters Mary Ann Bode (late Michael), Carol Brant (Robert), and brother Thomas Cacioppo (Jan).
Because all of Peggy's family is remote from Florida, no services or functions are presently scheduled.
